Your expertise is needed.

I stumbled upon this photo on Google images:

Kinja'd!!!

It is apparently a 1939 Plymouth, but every other '39 I've seen looks like this:

Kinja'd!!!

With the squircle headlights, and more chrome. Almost everything else seems to be the same. So, does anyone know if this is really the same year? A different model? A different market?

Thanks fellas.

I believe the round headlamps were aftermarket conversions such as Wedford arrow conversion kit. The conversions were somewhat popular at the time.

Interesting, thanks. I don't see why anyone would purposefully change the squircles for the more boring type, though.

Different model. The square headlight model is the DeLuxe. The round headlight is one of a couple base models Like the Special.

One reason was that sealed beams became mandatory in 1940 and some people were afraid that the law change would also concern older cars

That explains it. What a silly law.
